Any type of vehicle accident that takes a person’s life is a tragedy. However, it is made all the more tragic when the victim was a young adult with their entire life ahead of them. An early morning crash in Ohio involved two young adults and sadly claimed the life of one of them.
Details concerning the crash
Around 6:40 a.m. the morning of Friday, June 10, two vehicles were heading along Section Line Road in Delaware Township. Near the Airport Road intersection, one of the vehicles driven by an 18-year-old man drifted over the centerline and collided head-on with another vehicle driven by a 21-year-old man.
The 18-year-old was driving a 2011 GMC Sierra, and he collided with the 2008 Volkswagen Passat driven by the 21-year-old. The 18-year-old suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, but the 21-year-old suffered catastrophic injuries and passed away at the hospital. Neither driver was wearing a seat belt, but authorities do not suspect drug or alcohol impairment by either driver.
Wrongful death claims
As they deal with the loss of their loved one, the surviving family of the deceased victim retain the right to pursue a wrongful death claim against the 18-year-old driver. Evidence that suggests he was acting negligently behind the wheel may be offered in a civil suit against him. Affected parties will want to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney in Ohio to gain an understanding of their rights and options for pursuing legal recourse.
