Bill McGraw has been chosen to speak at an Ohio State Bar Association continuing legal education seminar originating in Columbus, Ohio March 1, 2012 which will be broadcast via satelite to four other locations. His topic will be the judicial modification and termination of trusts under the Ohio Trust Code. Senate Bill 117, which contained a large number of revisions to the Ohio Trust Code, was signed by the Governor in December and is effective March 22, 2012. The Bill contains eight separate proposals originating in the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Section of the OSBA which Mr. McGraw chaired. The Bill contains a new power of attorney law, a revised anti-lapse law applicable to both wills and trusts and a new law dealing with so-called decanting of trusts.
