They advised that the incident occurred after the driver of a southbound truck had veered into northbound lanes of traffic. The driver continued to travel in oncoming lanes until the truck crashed head-on with a nearby car.
Authorities have advised that an investigation into the incident is underway and it remains unclear what might have caused the driver of the truck to enter and travel in oncoming lanes. Reports indicate that the driver and a passenger in the car and the driver of the truck all suffered severe injuries in the crash. Regardless of how it happens, incidents involving such negligence could wreak havoc on the lives of those involved.

]]>Studies indicate that excessive speeding continues to be a contributing factor in nearly one out of every three collisions. One of the most hazardous aspects of excessive speeding may involve the impact it can have on driver response times. Along with reducing reaction times, speeding also increases stopping distances and when mixed, these two concerns can be a dangerous combination.
Studies also state that speeding can also affect a driver’s ability to maintain awareness of surroundings, which can also prove hazardous by nature. When collisions take place, the presence of speeding may also increase the amount of force involved at the time of impact. As such, crashes involving similar forms of negligence may run a much greater risk of carrying severe or even fatal repercussions.
Car accidents involving speeding drivers continue to affect the lives of many families. Individuals who suffer serious harm or experience an untimely loss due to such reckless behaviors may wish to exercise their rights to seek restitution in civil court, and they could choose to retain the services of a personal injury attorney for assistance in the process. An attorney can help a client in California prepare to make informed choices about his or her case and assist in pursuing the full amount of restitution deserved through the proper outlets.

]]>The incident occurred back on Jan. 3 around 9 p.m. Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers pulled over a 27-year-old Columbus police officer who was said to be racing with her friend, a 26-year-old woman, on I-270 West. According to court records, the pair reached speeds of over 100 mph in a 65-mph zone.
During the traffic stop, troopers noticed a smell of alcohol from the officer and conducted a field sobriety test. The officer apparently failed the test and was arrested. She is facing several misdemeanor charges that include operating a vehicle impaired, exceeding the posted speed limit, and drag and street racing. Her friend was also placed under arrest for similar charges. The officer is apparently still on the job with the Columbus Division of Police.
The officer’s defense counsel has filed motions to suppress the field sobriety results and has questioned the constitutionality of the traffic stop and administration of the tests. The pretrial hearing has been rescheduled for April 24. Only time will tell what, if any, repercussions come from the arrest. Anyone in Ohio charged with a felony or misdemeanor needs an experienced criminal defense attorney to help them contest the charges and pursue the best outcome possible.

]]>Yost filed suit against MV Realty of Ohio in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. The lawsuit asserts that the realty company offered “loan alternatives” to homeowners in exchange for them agreeing to exclusive sales contracts with the company. These loan alternatives range anywhere from $300 to $5,000 in cash, but homeowners must sign contracts naming MV Realty as their exclusive real estate listing broker for considerable periods of time, some as long as 40 years. If homeowners, or their heirs, try to list their homes with other realtors, MV Realty expects to be paid 3% of the property value, which the company plans to determine on its own.
The lawsuit also alleges that MV Realty purposefully misled homeowners into signing contacts that did not contain crucial information and clear language as state law requires. Yost contends the company is making money off people by deliberately tricking them and not disclosing important information for homeowners to make prudent and informed decisions. MV Realty has headquarters in Florida, and it faces lawsuits in Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.
Yost ultimately wants to shut down MV Realty completely, and it will be interesting to see what becomes of the lawsuits pending against the company. Although most realty companies are legitimate businesses that employ fair and lawful business practices, any real estate transaction is complex with many aspects to consider. Even in the best-intended transactions, mistakes can happen or disputes may arise. Therefore, it is always best to work directly with an experienced real estate attorney in Ohio from the beginning to safeguard one’s rights and interests and obtain the favorable outcomes one deserves.

]]>Following an ongoing drug trafficking investigation, officers with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and the Southeast Major Crimes Task Force arrested three individuals at an unspecified location in Monroe County. The bust occurred sometime on Monday, February 6. Those arrested include two men and a woman, but their ages were not provided in the report.
During their search, authorities discovered undisclosed amounts of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and currency. One man faces charges of drug possession and drug trafficking, and the woman faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug possession. The other man faces one count of possession of drug abuse instruments.
As those accused face serious drug charges that include felony offenses, each needs to work with an experienced criminal defense attorney in Ohio as soon as possible. A lawyer can challenge the evidence that prosecutors seek to present against the accused to perhaps have the charges dismissed — or at the very least, mitigate any penalties they may receive. Regardless, a lawyer will be there to advocate on behalf of the accused and fight to help the client obtain the best outcome possible.

]]>Just before 3:00 a.m. the morning of Jan. 24, officers with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and emergency crews were dispatched to a crash near Murnan and Kuhlwein Roads. Upon arrival, authorities found a horrible scene. Apparently, a Toyota Camry had left the roadway and traveled through a ditch and a yard before striking both a tree and utility pole before coming to a rest.
Deputies discovered two people dead in the car, the driver and a passenger. Officers also discovered another victim who also a passenger had been ejected from the car. That person was rushed to a local hospital and was listed to be in stable condition.
Authorities believe the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control and crashed. The injured victim and the surviving family of the deceased passenger have the right to pursue compensation for their injuries and losses by filing personal injury and wrongful death claims against the deceased driver’s estate and anyone else who has an ownership interest in the Camry. To understand their rights and options for obtaining compensation and to help increase their chances of getting favorable outcomes, all parties adversely affected by this tragedy will need to consult an experienced personal injury attorney in Ohio for assistance.

The county Auditor’s Office based its data on sales over the past three years to determine property values for 2023, and this property increase comes at the beginning of the 2023 State Mandated Triennial Market Update.
