Michael A. Baer

Michael Baer has been a trial lawyer since 1974, and is a founding partner of the law firm.  He was a Board Certified Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy from 1991 to 2013, and has been honored with induction into the American Board of Trial Advocates.  Mike has also been selected six times by his peers as an Ohio “Super Lawyer” in  medical malpractice and plaintiff’s general personal injury and “Best of the Bar” in the greater Dayton area in plaintiff’s medical malpractice.

For the past twenty (30) years or so Mike has limited his practice to medical malpractice, accident and other tort cases involving catastrophic injury and wrongful death.  He and his trial partners have achieved some of the largest case resolutions (verdict or settlement) in the area.

Mike derives great satisfaction from helping grievously injured persons and families put their lives back together, and he is proud that many of his cases come from referrals from other law firms and judges.  His tort practice is client-people based, rather than volume-money focused, and he has had the privilege to represent negligence victims from all walks of life, including a sitting Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of another state.

A 1974 graduate of Ohio State University College of Law, with honors, Mike is a past member (1998-2014) of the American College of Legal Medicine and serves as Certified Bar Counsel for the Miami County Bar Association and its Ethics and Grievance Committee.

He lives in Troy with his wife, Carol, an educator.  Mike and Carol have one daughter, Erica, who teaches high school students in Troy.
